Fen Ditton Vs Littleport Town

Fen Ditton lost to Littleport Town by 15 Runs

SCORECARD

Missed Opportunity

I'm not sure who won/lost the toss but Ditton fielded first and after a solid enough start by Littleport against Jacko and Joe, Skip came on and took wickets immediately in a two-burst spell which eventually yielded 3-41. Our seamers generally failed to find the right length to bowl at the 'Port skipper who battered his way to a half-century. Skip got him shortly after the milestone and then turned (no pun intended) to AB from the Pavilion End.

Suddenly there was carnage as batsmen played all around the ball or offered catches in a second best ever return for the club 7-19 for AB. 155 all out and a reasonable target to chase.

AB opened with Michael as Rob was missing the game and it was all going rather well until AB nicked one behind for 28. H had only reached 8 when adjuged LBW but McCann was going well until he became Ditton umpiring victim number two to fall LBW for 43. Skip made 13 before he was bowled and Darren top edged one that took a lot of catching.

After that collapse Joe joined Fez in what was probably our last hope of pulling the game out of the fire. Whilst the required rate increased, one good over could swing it our way. Instead, another LBW was awarded, Joe the victim this time. Fez had no option but to swing and was bowled for 15 leaving Paul and Jacko with just too much to do.

Littleport duly celebrated as they took the last wicket for a hard fought 15 run win. After their early season problems, they look much better and probably equipped to make a decent fist of the remainder of their season. Where does this leave Ditton? Well, fourth is the answer and within touching distance still of second.
